Community Outreach

When art happens, lives change!

Our Education and Community Outreach programs change the lives of over 5,000 school children every year. We are committed to integrating the arts into our diverse community whether through a stellar performance or an interactive lesson in the classroom!

The first step in this year-long project will be inspiring community members to create their own kindness projects to carry out during Random Act of Kindness Week (Feb 11-17, 2018).  The Shubert will be asking groups to share their project ideas with us and we’ll reward the best ideas with tickets to see Beautiful: The Carol King Musical or copies of the show’s amazing soundtrack.  Hopefully, we’ll even be able to help one group turn their idea into reality!  More information will be available in October.  Please help the Shubert win a $10,000 KIND Causes grant for this project by VOTING HERE!

The Shubert will also be working with community members to create kindness rock gardens.  Rock painting sessions at the Shubert are scheduled for:

All are welcome to come and help us paint kindness rocks!

This program is designed to provide New Haven based organizations with cultural and entertainment opportunities for those in the community who might not have the opportunity to experience the performing arts. Each season tickets to Shubert shows are distributed to over 100 groups in the community through the Capa's Community Connections program. Performances generally include Broadway, dance, and family events. To apply, please click here.

Enjoy family-friendly activities including arts & crafts projects, temporary tattoos, Halloween film shorts, snacks & refreshments. Children under 12 are welcome to wear Halloween costumes for trick or treating in the Shubert lobby (no masks please). Sunday, October 29, 2017, 11am-3pm.  All are welcome to join us for FREE!
