When art happens, lives change!
Our Education and Community Outreach programs change the lives of over 5,000 school children every year. We are committed to integrating the arts into our diverse community whether through a stellar performance or an interactive lesson in the classroom!
GIRL SCOUT PATCH PROGRAM
The Shubert Girl Scout Patch was introduced during the Shubert's 100th Anniversary celebration. Patches can be earned by attending a pre-show Girl Scout program before designated family-friendly performances, attending any performance at the Shubert, or attending a tour. Patches are designed each year to be season specific.
Many of the shows that come to the Shubert offer study guides to provide teachers with curriculum based activities to use in the classroom in conjunction with a show. Most include a synopsis of the play and some history. Click here to download and print study guides.
SHUBERT SUMMER THEATER & ARTS CAMP
The Shubert Summer Theater & Arts Camp is a month-long camp for Connecticut 5th-8th grade students held at New Haven's state of the art Cooperative Arts & Humanities High School (next door to the Shubert Theatre). This innovative program gives students the opportunity to pursue the arts during the summer through a range of courses while giving them a head start on what they'd like to pursue in high school. Students may select courses based on their interest and strengths. Courses include: musical performance, acting, dance, technical theater, digital photography, short film and more!
