Clark Performing Arts Center

Originally from Jackson, Mississippi, Alexander Clark moved to New Haven in 2000 to attend Yale University. He graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and has remained deeply invested in the Greater New Haven community as an entrepreneur, civic leader, philanthropist, and supporter of the performing arts.

A longtime patron and advocate for the Shubert Theatre, Alexander has supported its mission as a cultural landmark and gathering place for New Haven and the surrounding region. The Clark Performing Arts Center recognizes his commitment to preserving the Shubert's extraordinary legacy while ensuring that future generations can continue to experience live theater, music, dance, education, and community programming in this historic venue.

Technolutions

Alexander is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of Technolutions, a software development company serving the education industry. He founded the company in 1994 while a seventh-grade student in Mississippi.

In 2000, during his first year at Yale, Alexander developed and introduced Slate, Technolutions' flagship information management platform. Today, Slate supports admissions and enrollment, student success, alumni and advancement operations at more than 2,000 colleges and universities worldwide.

Technolutions' annual Slate Summit brings together thousands of higher education professionals for several days of learning, collaboration, and community. The event traces its roots to the Shubert Theatre, where the first Slate Summit was held in 2013.

Community Leadership

Alexander serves on the boards of trustees of Quinnipiac University and Albertus Magnus College and has supported a wide range of educational, cultural, and civic institutions throughout Greater New Haven. His commitment to downtown New Haven also includes the stewardship, restoration, and ongoing evolution of ZINC and Union League.

He has received multiple honorary doctorates in recognition of his contributions as an entrepreneur and philanthropist. In 2025, the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce presented him with its Technology Innovation Award for Technolutions' continued innovation and impact on higher education.

Alexander's support of the Shubert reflects his belief in preserving and strengthening the institutions that bring people together, inspire creativity, enrich their communities, and endure for generations.
