Nominated for 12 Tony Awards and the winner of the 2019 Tony Award for Best Choreography, Ain't Too Proud tells the thrilling story of brotherhood, family, loyalty, and betrayal, as the group's personal and political conflicts threatened to tear them apart during a decade of civil unrest in America.

The Temptations

The Temptations were discovered by Berry Gordy and signed to Motown Records in 1961

The musical is based on the book by Otis Williams, one of the founders and last remaining original member of The Temptations. Otis, who is celebrating his 83rd birthday this year, is still touring with The Temptations to this day.

The Temptations rose to the top of the charts creating an amazing 42 Top Ten Hits with 14 reaching number one, including songs like “My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Get Ready,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone.”

AIN’T TOO PROUD features an amazing ensemble cast performing over 30 hit songs from the legendary Temptation’s catalogue, with the musical featuring icons from music history like the original members of the Temptations, Berry Gordy, Smokie Robinson, The Supremes, Tammie Terrell, Shelly Berger and more!

The production is directed by two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, with choreography by Olivier and Tony Award winner (for Ain’t Too Proud) Sergio Trujillo.

The book was written by Obie and Kennedy Prize winning writer/author Dominique Morisseau.

Show Running Time & Age Recommendation

The show run 2 hours and 30 minuted, including one 15-minute intermission.

Theatergoers will love the show’s energetic dance numbers and nonstop music. The show contains minimal adult language and references and is best enjoyed by audiences ages 12 and up.
